Saucy trivia

The point of this ad is that the MRI was invented in Scotland.  Now you'll never forget that, right?

I wish I lived in Antwerp

Sort of a real-life version of what's happening here, from ad broad: "I've posted about flashmobs before. But what makes this stunt in Central Station of Antwerp, Belgium so refreshing was that it wasn't orchestrated by a global brand to push product, but as a promotion for a local TV program looking for a lead in the musical "The Sound of Music." 200 dancers. 2 rehearsals. 4 minutes of delight for early morning commuters."

Awesome indeed

I heartily enjoy the Discovery Channel's fine programming and this commercial, included in the Daily Beast's list of the year's funniest commercials (are they late or premature? ah well.) pretty much sums up why.

Skoda Fabia Commercial

If I was on the market for a tiny British car it'd be hard for me to pass up the Skoda Fabia, solely on the merits of this commercial in which a full-size model of the car is built from cake. They really did it! The short video about the construction is also worth watching, if constructing large objects with cake is your thing.

Stealth McDonald's

As a former McDonald's employee I could happily live the rest of my life without ever setting foot in one again. But while they've lost this customer, McDonald's has been trying some interesting techniques to expand the consumer base of one of the most widely-recognized brands in the world. But what if the brand itself is the deterrent? In Tokyo, the company has converted two stores that will serve only single and double Quarter Pounders to promote the sandwiches. The stripped-down menu, redecorated interior, and new packaging is a huge departure from its other stores- it's a lot more dramatic than the McDonald's in New York that every suburban class on a field trip goes nuts over because there's a piano player- but the outside is what's really noteworthy: the McDonald's name and logo don't appear! Stateside, McDonald's is already pushing hard to bring in the yuppies with their plan to offer cappuccino drinks nationwide in 2009; it'll be interesting of they're willing to go this far here.

Speed-dressing

Cute or wildly inappropriate? Your answer probably depends on whether you're the parent of a teenager.
